The Big Event!

We started our last day of class by making wearable sculpture out of paper. This helped us to understand ways that artists like ourselves use the body as an armature for form and plan for how sculptures can move with the body.

It just so happened that MassArt sculpture students use our room during
the week and one of them was working on a paper dress!

Some of us chose to wear our work to our gallery reception!

It was a big turn out!

A big thank you to all the adults, parents, family, and Saturday Studios faculty and staff who supported the students' work for the past eight weeks. I have learned so much teaching these young sculptors and will miss them very much. I enjoyed making each of them cards by drawing their sculptures and writing a note about their achievements. Drawing their work was fascinating because it gave me a new appreciation of their thinking and of the complexity of their forms. Inside the envelopes each student received a photograph of themselves working, working with a classmate, and an artwork or two by artists whose work I think relates to their own.

Have a wonderful summer and keep making art!
